ONLINE CLASSES AT THE NEW NAILQ ACADEMY

I  have recently made my online classes available to the world !

At the beginning, it is perfectly acceptable to start out learning through trial and error, but it gets to a point where if it's causing you stress and uncertainty, it might be time to consider the other options available to you.

Trying over and over again to learn something new but it seems like the more you research and the harder you try, the more confused you are ? Or maybe you have been doing this for a while but don't see any improvement so you are ready to give up ?

You know there is something missing but maybe you are too embarrassed to ask for help ? Or have you always wanted to do an in-person class with me but don't live in Singapore ? I do travel to teach, but I can't be everywhere :) And travelling to visit me could be a really expensive hassle.  So...this is why I have created my online class NailQ Academy after numerous request from nail techs overseas who wanted to take my class.

Convenience
You can experience my personal teaching style from anywhere in the world, at your own convenience in the comfort of your home.  Unlike an in-person class, there is no need to spend extra time or money on taking time off work, travelling, accommodation and childcare.

Different from free online resources
While there are many resources out there free of charge, which is great believe me but if everything can be learnt free of charge from the web, then nobody has to go to school or invest in further education. As a trained professional, I have invested a lot of time and resources to hone my skills and build credibility. I'm bringing all this to the table to empower you to achieve results. Every technique will be broken into parts and explained with close-up demos. The classes offered on NailQ Academy is a focused training and not just a regular step by step video.

Results
Based on my 15 years of experience, I know how to guide you and keep tasks achievable. I will provide you with lots of support videos and resource guides, product recommendations, motivation so you can get it done ! Plus you will get lifetime access to all the video recordings so that you can use it whenever you need it compared to an in-person class which usually have a lot of information being compressed into a short amount of time and you cannot re-watch the class, and sometimes even not enough close-ups !

This class is available for your to follow from the beginning even though the first class started on May 17, 2018 All videos and practice sessions are available for you to watch at your own convenience once you sign up.

Nail Art Backlog

I've completely neglected my blog after getting into Facebook and Instagram. It's hard work trying to update and post on every single social media platform. But one thing I'm glad is to revisit the postings from yesteryears and feeling a sense of gratitude and achievement especially when I have made use of all my time doing something I really love and living every moment to the fullest. I've done so much more since 2014 which is missing in my blogpost but it's somewhere on Facebook and 2015 till now has been a bit of a break to recalibrate and find my centre again. There's been some more recent nail artworks which I'm sharing here while still lots more are buried somewhere in the thousands of photos on my poor iPhone

NAILING ART 1 - New "How To" Nail Art Book Launching in September

NAILING ART 1 by Catherine Wong
120-page HardCover book with more than 40 step-by-steps

I'm very excited to announce that Nailing Art 1 is the first book in a series of nail art step-by-step book that will be launching this September.

Nailing Art 1 focuses on wearable nail art that can be done on short to medium length nails. It combines a technical "how to" book and a "look book" rolled into one so it will be perfect for the nail tech as well as the clients to get an idea of how to wear nail art with a twist.

I've been asked so many times about nail art and how practical they can be to wear. I still love all the artisan and ornate designer nails but I think it's time that I venture into something that is very practical yet attractive and beautiful to wear on a daily basis, hence the creation of this book.

As practical as it may be, let me give you the heads up that there are lots of technique and ideas in this book that covers gel painting, gel polish art, embellishment and also my latest 3D embroidery technique that have been worn by me and lasts for weeks still looking impeccable.

I hope that you will find this book a useful companion.

Happy Nailing !

Organizing My First International Nail Competition for Professionals ~ A Global Brand

Global Nail Cup is a huge international competition that has been running for the 7th year in South Korea and 4th year in Finland in 2013.

This competition is created for nail professionals by a nail professional. The founder is none other than the 3 times World Champion, with more than 300 trophies behind him, Mr Trang Nguyen - who is also the founder of Odyssey Nail Systems.

The motivation behind the Global Nail Cup is to create a professional, fun and fair nail competition with top competitors from around the world. Any competitor that wishes to pitch their skills and set a benchmark for themselves would love to compete in this championship as they would be competing with some of the best and seasoned competitors from the region and there are also 3 levels : Student, Division 1 (Professionals) and Division 2 (Masters), a chance to shine at every level.

Competitors would vouch that this has to be one of the toughest nail competition in the running, but also the most fun and generous ! Top prizes are offered in cash for up to USD3,000 for the Grand Champion.

When I was given the opportunity to host the 1st Global Nail Cup Malaysia, I was ecstatic, excited but at the same time felt daunted and inadequate.

Fast forward 2 weeks, it's finally made it's debut on the 1st July, 2013 in Johor Bahru. We had a great turn out with more than 300 entries, 9 countries and saw the highest standards in the nail art categories which was just mind blowing. This event would not have been a success without the support of my ONS team members, friends, students, competitors and all the judges both local and international.

Here are some videos (thanks to James Ng) for your viewing pleasure and I hope that we will see another great turn out and more amazing work in 2014 !
