Mixed Media 3D Prehistoric

With the prehistoric theme at the Nailpro comps this year, the first thing I visualized were dinosaurs and cavemen running around and I couldn't bring myself to do a set of nails like that...lol...truth is, I don't do dinosaurs cos they're scary! I decided to work with textures and did some research on prehistoric life of the sea, land and sky and finally came up with this entry which placed 2nd in veteran.

Fantasy Nails - Psychedelic 60's

I love everything about fantasy nails except for the time involved and the tideous detailed work required in creating one. It has never been one of my favourite category because I don't enjoy working on a set of nails for days, even up to weeks before you can complete to admire the outcome. Having said that, I find myself entering this competition time and again because it challenges me to step out of my comfort zone and experiment different ideas and techniques. When there is no limit to what you can do with fantasy, that is when you can flirt with the artistic side of creativity.

Competition Mixed Media Artworks

I'm very happy to showcase these amazing entries by the nailtechs whom I've had the pleasure of training for mixed media works. Congratulations for your effort and keep up the great work !

Angie Chong - 2nd Place

Regine Lo - 4th Place

(There are a couple more entries which I will update once I've sorted out these pictures ! )

3rd Fantastic Nail Awards Malaysia

It's another amazing year of nail competition in Malaysia with a growing number of participants from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea. The quality of artwork has seen a major improvement and this year we see more participants in Sculptured nails in both the acrylic and gel division. The organizer (JJ Nail Professional) and CosmoBeaute have made this competition possible according to international standards with an international judging panel of nail champions and experts from USA, Korea, Taiwan, China, Singapore and Malaysia. Judging is closed curtain and each judge is only made to look at one, maximum two judging criteria per category to ensure fairness at all times. The outcome of the competition was satisfactory with deserving winners being placed.

Summer nails

Color is an amazing thing, you may not wear a certain color by itself, for example...orange; but when different colors are placed together, they can actually complement really well. Experimenting with colors to create your own distinctive pallets make your art personal and unique.

My Ed Hardys!

Yay,...more props and collections =)

Marble Nails

These nails are marbled with acrylic and embedded with tiny and large diamontes.

School Theme on the Edge

The school theme must've been one of the most challenging theme I've had to do in a competition. I took a risk by going against the conventional square nails and did some books on the edge. Wish I had more time to work on the details but it's definitely a fun set to do. This placed 3rd in veteran.

Handpainted Talents !

This year's AMERICAN THEME handpainted category in Las Vegas comps for veteran really left a very deep impression on me because of the flawless quality of workmanship of these very outstanding nail artists. Not only they have demonstrated a very high level of skill in their craft but the composition and details of the nail art was perfect. Looking at these nails could keep me in awe and mesmerized for hours ! Amazing work !
