Filigree Inspired Nails

Whenever the word filigree comes to mind, I think of my dear friend Viv Simmonds. She is such an inspiration and always makes me laugh. She loves adding filigrees to her designs and while I was doing this set of nails for myself, I was actually thinking of her and her little adventure with Jesse James to Hong Kong...no, she's not running off with some cowboy, it's her cute little son we're talking about ;) I can't wait for my own vacation !

More nails, more excitement, more talent ! I just spent 3 days with my wonderful nail friends in Malaysia doing stuff we love best. Besides having a good laugh, plenty to eat and drink, we had some really serious nail stuff going on in the workshop and saw some amazing work coming out of the attendees' first attempt at mixed media fantasy nails. Once again, I thank all my dear friends (you know who you are :) for a wonderful time.

It was a joy working with all these talented techs from Mexico, they are just so lovely and fun to be with.

Guadalajara is such a beautiful town, so different from Mexico City, plenty of greens and culture.

My Demo Nails In Mexico Using Odyssey Nail Systems

Such an honour to create a set of nails with Trang Nguyen using the ONS new collections launched at the EBS show in Mexico City.

These nails were created with the Glamour, Cocktail and Diva Collections

This set of nails with goldfish were done using the Evoke Traditional Gel system, Primary color gels and handpaint.

The black marbilized lipstick nail is created by ONS Educator from Arizona - Max Estrada, I did the other colored embedded designs with the new Neon, Diva and Primary Collections.

My beautiful hand model, Ana Laura only managed with this one hand of stilleto edge nails which was created using colors from Cocktail, Mardi Gras and Duvet Pink.

This is another nail sculpted with the Evoke Gel and Primary color gel. Details were enhanced with 3D from the Primary collection and handpaint.

Like the Mexican people who are beautiful, warm and friendly ; the nails of Mexico reflect the colorful, exotic and cheerful nature of the culture and people. I've never been to a show that showcased so many nail artists wearing such extravagant nails ! I love it !

When a class of nail techs get together, the action begins!

We've had the best of talents under one roof for the past four days of HRTE Singapore followed by the Akzentz Gel Workshop. Passionate nail professionals came together to make this event happen from USA, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, Switzerland, Vietnam, UK and Australia.

Beauty Showcase

What amazing booths and showcase at the Beaudex Korea, beautiful people and surrounded by talents.

BEAUDEX Korea 2009

Global Beauty Design Expo (BEAUDEX) in Korea organized by the Korean government which held the first nail competition aims to unify the industry's 5 Nail associations in Korea. The largest nail association - Korea Nail Association (KNA) registered about 1,000 competitors with another +/-500 from other associations in support of the first national competition. There were no less than 150 judges from all 5 associations being invited to conduct the judging and among the international nail judges includes world champion-Trang Nguyen, Danny Haile, Carla Collier (Nailpro Head Judge) and I was really honoured to be invited to be a part of the judging panel for the Masters Division, which are the top competitors in the country. Although with much regret, the unforseen intervention of parties running the competition, the final judging for Masters division was cancelled at the last minute despite briefing was carried out during the judges' meeting the day before the competition. It was a dismay for the Master category competitors who have prepared for months and a surprise to association committees. The effort of unification is highly anticipated and supported by all, but we are only human. True champions do not need to glorify themselves. Top spots in all other divisions were still dominated by deserving winners. It was indeed an eye opener.

This design is inspired by the elements of the earth and worn in 2 styles. I'm going to live with this set for 2 weeks !

Circle of Nails

We've accomplished quite a lot of sculptured nails in one day ! The techs were great and so was the yummy lunch that was prepared by the host. Thank you for such a fantastic time, I had fun doing the class.
